About Artist

I am an artist who is based in Perth WA. I craft dark macabre humanoid creatures, psychedelic versions of natural landscapes, I want to bring my fever dreams to life.

Once I left high school I found myself never creating art. I think doing art in an educational setting kind of put me off. After a few years out of high school I just wanted to paint something, so I did. I didn’t sketch something, I just took my watercolours and started painting. I was able to create things that I couldn’t even see in my mind.

Subject focus areas:

  • Psychedelic
  • Dark and macabre
  • Altered natural landscapes (WA landscapes)
  • Vivid colour palettes
  • Humanoid creatures
  • Fever dream

I create digital artwork and physical/traditional artwork. I use adobe fresco to create digital artwork. I paint using acrylic, oil and water colour. Some of my art is slightly dark and macabre. When I create artwork based on natural landscapes, I try to use a psychedelic style to further depict the feelings of the space I am experiencing. My artwork takes inspiration from surrealism. I enjoy creating humanoid creatures that depict the human experience focusing on feelings/emotions that maybe hard to describe with words. I enjoy using vivid and high contrast colours and ideas. Some of my artwork can be described as fever dream.

In the future I would like to develop more of a consistent style. Now the genre/ style of my artwork can be described as “Art without genre”. Hopefully this website will be helpful in creating and developing my style/genre.

The name Emoly was a nickname given to me in high school. It is the combination of Emily + Emo. In high school I was more into “goth” music, so this nickname slightly annoyed me.
